Cypermethrin
Cypermethrin (Agrothrin, Ambush C, Barricade, Neramethrin, supermethrin, α-cyano-3-phenoxybenzyl-2,2-dimethyl-3-(2,2-dichlorovinyl) cyclopropanecarboxylate, CAS#52315-07-8) is a synthetic pyrethroid used as an insecticide in large-scale commercial agricultural applications as well as in consumer products for domestic purposes. It behaves as a fast-acting neurotoxin in insects. It is easily degraded on soil and plants but can be effective for weeks when applied to indoor inert surfaces. Exposure to sunlight, water and oxygen will accelerate its decomposition. Cypermethrin is highly toxic to fish, bees and aquatic insects, according to the National Pesticides Telecommunications Network (NPTN). It is found in many household ant and cockroach killers and ant chalk.
Uses
Cypermethrin has wide-spectrum and quick killing action , higher efficacy and longer duration of effectiveness than Permethrin, stable to light. Especially it has killing action to insect spawns, and ideal for control and prevention of insects which are resistant to organic phosphorous pesticide. Its effectiveness lasts for four weeks in prevention of flies. It is also used in control of livestorle pests, infection pests, flies and storage pests.
